Post - Where to Stay when looking for Accommodation in Lebanon

Our Accommodation in Lebanon

In this post we review our accommodation in Lebanon and give our opinions on each place.

– Santona Residence, Leon St., Hamra, Beirut

We really enjoyed our stay in Santona Residence. We even came back here for the final night after we had spent two nights in a different accommodation. Coming back here we both felt much more comfortable and relaxed than we had been in the other accommodation. It was like we were returning home!

The Room

The room had a living room, separate bedroom, small balcony, and kitchenette. It was comfortable, in a very good location, and felt very secure. There was a safe box provided in the room and plenty of towels in the bathroom. The shower was good and the rooms were very clean.

Breakfast was brought to our room in the morning. This consisted of hummus, bread, cheese, and various other Arabic breakfast foods. Tea and coffee was also provided in the room.

There was parking available for anyone with a hire car, which we availed of. A laundry service was available at an extra cost. But be sure to remind them about the clothes from time to time as we nearly had to leave the hotel leaving them behind due to a delay getting them back.

Overall, we were very happy with the selection of this accommodation and would definitely go back here again when returning to Lebanon.

 – Janna Sur Mer Beach Resort, Damour

Janna Sur Mer was a beautiful looking resort. The bungalow we stayed in was right on the beach giving great views while the waves crashing on the beach at night was amazing. There was a dinner table set up with lanterns right by the sea for a romantic dinner for two at night for anyone who felt like booking it.

The room was just a bedroom and a bathroom, and was quite large. Unfortunately, even though it had the potential to be great, it was let down by the fact that the bed sheets and linen were not clean. The shower was not properly cleaned, and this immediately turned us off it. There was no tea and coffee provided, or a safe box for valuables.

However, the pool was large and had many different areas to it and some nice scenery around it in the form of statues. We went early in the morning and had the whole place to ourselves. You could swim underneath the restaurant or lounge around at the infinity edge looking into the ocean. There was a bar in the pool and this got busy at around midday. There was ample sunbeds around the pool and also down by the beach.

In general, we were disappointed in the accommodation, even though the pool was nice and our room was in a great location. The room was very overpriced for what we got and for the next time we will be booking a different place to spend a few days on the beach.

– WH Hotel, Mar Youhanna, Beirut

In this hotel we got ourselves a nice top level suite for a few days. Situated very close to Hamra it is a great location for exploring Beirut. For anyone who has hired a car there is a valet service available which we would recommend getting as parking in the area is very limited.

The suite itself was a two level suite, with the living area, a small kitchenette, and a toilet downstairs. Upstairs was the bedroom and a bathroom. The sitting area unfortunately didn’t have a balcony but was of an ample size. While there was tea and coffee provided for us on the first night, be aware that this is only for the first night and if you want more you need to purchase yourself. However there is a little shop across the road so this is not a major problem.

Issues

We did though have an issue with the shower, the large fixed head was damaged and the smaller telephone shower wouldn’t fix to the wall so had to be held by hand. That’s fine for someone with short hair but for a woman who wants to wash her hair it can be a problem. They did send someone to fix it the next morning with cable ties however.

We had also asked for wake up calls in the morning and for three mornings in a row they either missed them, or the phone wasn’t working. So don’t rely on the wake up calls if you need to get up early!

On a plus side the hotel has a nice café inside and the food is quite good here. It’s nice to sit outside and have a coffee and a sandwich and just read a book or just enjoy the ambience of the area.

In general, the hotel was quite ok, while still not our top hotel in Beirut; it’s definitely not the worst one you could stay in either.
